Dream destination weddings
I love all weddings and they are all beautiful. I have seen and filmed weddings on all scales - huge manor weddings to village home-made weddings and been totally excited about them all. I am the first to say weddings aren’t just about the day, they’re about becoming married and celebrating this with the people you love the most.
At the same time, however, travel is such a big part of my life, that the idea of combining this with my love of filming weddings makes me feel inspired immediately. I have compiled a list (who doesn’t love a list?!) of my most desired venues, cities and locations. Whether the day will be an elopement consisting of just the two of you, an intimate affair with a handful of your closest friends and family, or a three day extravaganza, I cannot wait to turn it into a beautiful film for you and your family to cherish forever.
The locations I have chosen are beautiful, yes, but I am also drawn to them personally because they each connect directly with my interests and tastes.
What is a destination weddings?
Destination weddings are usually weddings taking place in a country the couple do not live in. Because of this, destination weddings often have a small number of guests. If it is just the two of them, this is usually referred to as an elopement. Destination weddings can be completely different to the a wedding local to where they live. Not all events have to happen on the same day, the couples outfit changes can be more open to interpretation to suit the climate or culture. Couples who chose to travel somewhere foreign to celebrate their marriage have complete freedom to design their day. Locations can include beaches on exotic shores, the buzzing centre of a major metropolis, an Italian lakeside or the wilderness of Scotland.

Ham Yard Hotel, London
As much as I have travelled, I maintain London is the best city in the world. Completely eclectic architecture, multicultural, iconic and sophisticated with examples of ‘the arts’ around every corner. I always feel London has an electricity that never fades for me. The skyine is magical and the Ham Yard has a ceremony area on the very stylish and modern rooftop bar. The hotel [chain] is owned by a lady who has a gift with interior design and interesting art which really seeps through every corner. This hotel is not your average glitzy, high-end, touristic hotel. I believe a wedding film here would be beautiful because of the interesting backdrops, colours, textures and shapes and the rooms are intimate and cosy. I cannot say I have not imagined my own wedding here…

Tokyo
The only place on this list I have not been. So nowhere particularly specific, although the Park Hyatt features in my all time favourite film. But as long as we can get out into the street to capture that amazing crowd rushing past you as newlyweds, the neon signs shining on you like halos and the marvel at the other-worldliness. Everything about Tokyo seems somehow insane and sophisticated at the same time. Oh please let me film your wedding in Tokyo.
The Ranch at Rock Creek, Montana
The mid-west USA has some of the best scenery in the world I believe, especially when you get off the highways and spend a week or two getting wonderfully lost. The Ranch at Rock Creek is heaven for those wanting a rustic wedding, complete with animal skulls, wild grasses and flowers, all the fresh air you could dream on and all the trimmings (you know the ones - American horses, camp fires, staff in cowboy hats). I dream of filming a loving couple and their guests having a heap of fun at a hoe-down. I have a slight affinity with Western music. I was raised with my mother listening to Shania Twain and Garth Brooks, then when I rode my own motorocycle through the mid-west in 2018 I had some of the best nights of my life after a long day on the bike, sitting in an ordinary bar with a cold beer listening to bands that were “rolling through town” playing music from their heart. Very romantic.

Anyhow Park, Oxford
I am proud to be a rural, country girl, so these grand estates spike my interest instantly. At first glance it looks typically quintessential, then you spot the giraffe peering over the banquet table, or the penguin on the mantle piece and realise this is quirky but not too much. It is set in beautiful Oxford country side with very impressive grounds and manor. I guess I would love to film there and capture the guests reactions to every room. From the morning preparations, to the evening celebrations in the cellar, the day would be a gorgeous scene I would love to present back to the couple.

Florence
Take me to Firenze any time. The fashion, the art, the galetti, the Duomo. Italy is the true destination of love, it is where Shakespeare set Romeo and Juliet, where Botticelli painted Venus and Mars, and need I mention the spaghetti scene from The Lady And The Tramp? Northern Italy is also my preferred region for wine. Florence is Italy at its best. The Italians know how to enjoy the good things in life, so I imagine a Florentine wedding full of good food and good music. As a keen appreciator of such things, surely I would be the ideal destination wedding videographer.
Brooklyn
Is there a better place for street photography or videography? Possibly not. I have the vision of an immaculately dressed (NY style of course) couple passing under the train crossings, travelling on the subway and walking down the sidewalk, all complimented by the sounds of the lingo and the traffic. From Brooklyn is also where you get that amazing view of the New York Skyline past the Brooklyn Bridge.
I very much would love the idea of filming a wedding in these locations for a couple who fell in love with them as much as I have.
Until then, I will keep walking the world and dreaming of the wedding possibilities…
